Default High beam led

Has anyone replaced the highbeam bulb (9005) with an led on a 2009 RX350? I do have the hid w/AFS and would like to replace the highs with led but don’t know if any issues with flickering.

2005 RX330, put in 9005 LEDs I took off my Camry before junking it. Very bright and amazing visibility when needed.

You will get flickering unless:
A. You disable DRL (I did this)
B. You run big capacitors/decoders before the LEDs (this will run DRL at high beam power, no bueno)

How can you disable the DRLs

I got the MTEC kit on eBay for $85.00. It is intended for the sienna but works on the RX, and my GS and ES for that matter.

It runs at half power during the day with no discernible flickering, then works as a traditional high beam at full power when you flash or put the high beams on.

More expensive, but works as a DRL and high beam and is simply plug and play

Default Thank you

Having a little trouble locating the MTEC lighting other than just the bulbs. I think there is a relay you can replace that also disconnects them

You need Techstream to code them off. It's part of the lighting menu. I've done this on my RX and other Toyota cars.

I tried doing the relay swap, waste of my time trying to find it and actually do it. Takes 5 minutes to code it off, plus I did other small customizations also.

Techstream is Toyota's proprietary software that can read check engine codes, program keys, or customize certain features. This could be done at the dealer but according to your state laws, I recall a select few states actually require DRLs and if so, dealers won't code it off.

There are unofficial ways to get it but I will not go into that. Some independent mechanics may also have it.

Default Think it’s resolved

Hey guys, thanks for all the info on techstream. The Toyota dealer was very cool with helping me out. Just told me to stop by. Didn’t charge me anything but gave the guy that did it $20 bucks.
The only issue I’m having now is a cross with my aftermarket remote start. If I use the remote my parking lights now come on( they don’t come on if I use the key) and then it won’t shut off when I remove the key. I have to press the break pedal. Not sure if this can be adjusted with any setting on remote start.
my question is if they are on will it effect the LEDs?
Thanks for the help
