I just had an issue with a tire yesterday and while I didn't mix tire types or tread patterns, I had a nail go through the sidewall on the Michelin Defenders on our 2004 RX330 AWD with 275k; the damaged tire had 7/32 of tread left. After discussing options with Discount Tire, I only replaced the one damage tire and now have one tire with 11/32 and the other three have 7/32. I was concerned about the drivetrain but since it was the tire/design, Discount was good with just replacing one.
