Default I searched, peeling door trim issue

Hi all,

Trying to spiffy up the new to us 2004 RX330 we just got, noticed this peeling trim and it set off my car nut OCD. is this just factory applied vinyl? if so does anyone know a particular color of gloss black vinyl to buy from maybe 3M to repair this?
The rear quarter glass trim on the passenger side is also missing, but that was easy enough to find on ebay.

Thanks in advance!

Ian

Best bet peel it off. You can replace it but it is not an easy DIY (so it seems). I have the same condition. I ended up taking off the paint that have peeled and colored the chrome (stainless steel?) with pentel pen, I know it is cheap but better than seeing the chrome. Hopefully someday everything will peel off and all of the trim is chrome or stainless steel.

Thanks Mandyfig, I am still a little confused, is it paint or vinyl film? really feels like high quality (for the time) vinyl film, I think I may just order some nice #M or similar gloss black adhesive vinyl film and give a go at heat gun/peeling this off and cutting a strip to recover it.

if this works, i'll post up my results.

Another Idea is any vinyl wrap shop could probably redo a whole cars trim in an hour for a fairly low cost.

Thanks and I'll let you know how it goes.
