Just joined the site, lots of good info I've been able to use.
I have an issue I've been unable to resolve, there are several related posts but I haven't seen a posting about the issue I'm having with the rear lift gate. It works fine with key fob and internal button on driver's side lower dash.
When I try to lift with rear switch above license plate, the lift motor activates and unlocks gate but doesn't complete the lift. No beep. I have toggled the glove box button.
I replaced the rear switch assembly. Thinking about strut replacement, but it lifts fine with fob and internal switch.
Any one have similar issues and able to resolve?

when using the tail gate button on the door , i have to lift it almost all the way manually. My tail gate support recently broke so i am telling you from my feable memory as i can't go out and verify.

Believe I found the solution, has to do with Lexus personalized settings.
Only dealers have software to re-program. Rear door function is one of the settings with an option to manual vs auto lift

Hello time418, I hope you are doing well,
I can confirm this 100%, if you go to a Lexus Dealer or use a Lexus/Toyota software tool, you can make the manual button on the lift gate fully open the tailgate. I have a 2007 Lexus RX and the last time I want to the dealership, I had them change this setting for me. This is a very dumb software setting Lexus defaulted too, if we have the power lift gate, why not just have it lift by the button by default!

the manual lift option is there for if you are parked in a low roof carpark, you can manually lift it far enough to get access. if you use the auto function it will lift too high and hit the roof
