Default Humming above 20mph

My girls 08 350 hums above 20mph. I keep thinking wheel bearing but it's been going on for MONTHS. every time I jack it up I feel no movement in any of the wheels. I thought front passenger side when I first heard it, now that I'm trying to fix it so she can trade it/keep it I strongly feel it is the driver side.

Now the weird thing is, if I let it coast, at almost exactly 20mph it will feel like it "frees" up (it's very noticeable, like I was riding the brakes and then let go) and stop humming completely. Any ideas?

Default Whining/Humming sound

My guess is it’s your tire. Rotate the tires and the sound will follow.
Please let us know when you figure out what is really causing it.

I had rotated the tires and my post was after rotation. It 'sounded' like the front passenger side was the location at first, but after I cross rotated it's definitely driver side front.

To make matters worse my gf keeps telling me the car sometimes brakes/pulls/??? when in corners. So it confused me more as I've never felt that, only heard the hum.

Now if it is her tire, what am I looking for? And the tire doesn't sound like the culprit of the 'release' at 20mph. It's always at almost 20mph exactly.

I had a humming noise. It got louder the faster I went. Turned out to be the rear wheel bearing

yep, rx's do go thru wheel bearings. not sure why.

GFs "pulling/braking"...could be the ABS brakes firing.
do you have the same condition wheels on front and back. my rx did not like it when i had older snows on the front and brand new snows on the rear. the abs was firing when i took a highspeed turn (like on a highway exit ramp), put the summer tires back on ( all four equally worn), and the ABS problem went away.

Different brand & types of tires do make a difference.......If it is a wheel bearing, it'd be getting worst as you drive it.

Could be brakes dragging due to calipers sticking. The only way to check this is to remove each caliper and verify free motion. I just had to replace all four calipers just for this reason, but I was also getting steering wheel vibration.

To properly check your wheel bearings, you must remove the brake calipers as they can limit the motion you would normally feel when a bearing goes bad.

Good luck!
