05 - Driver's door lock switch works only when key is on
Hi All,
Really happy to have found this site!
I recently bought a 2005 RX330, only 115K miles. I'm really happy with the car, but it has a few oddities, and I cannot find anything useful with a search.
Oddity #1: Driver's door lock switch in armrest panel works only when key is on. Passenger lock switch works all the time, as I would expect.
Oddity #2: The driver's window switch forgets how to auto-open. I have to reinitialize the driver's switch every time the car is started, and it will auto-open or close until I shut the car off. The other three switches retain the auto-open for the other three windows, as I would expect..
Anyone have those issues or know what to look at?
Thanks!

Hi Timb52,
Just a follow up to see if you figured it out cuz I looked thru the repair/troubleshoot in the manual and couldn't find your exact symptom anywhere.
If you already checked the connections like mentioned above it could be a failing Driver Door ECU.

Hey guys,
So iMSQs idea to check the wiring was spot on. Found the connector to the window switch had the 12V continuous wire cut at the connector, and spliced into the 12 IGN wire. This explains why the lock only works with key on, and the window losing it's memory at key off. Obviously all that to "cure" some other issue. The window switch doesn't respond to the Techstream software, so I think it's likely the culprit. The wires down in the armrest look like they've been messed with as well, so instead of troubleshooting all that wiring I've ordered a replacement door wiring harness ($20 shipped on eBay!), it looks like brand new. I'll put that in and see if things change, if not I'll find a used switch on ebay. Dealer wants waayyy too many $$$ for them.

I'm happy to report that replacing the harness and the master window switch with used parts from eBay resolved all door lock, auto-window, and seat memory issues. Everything working perfectly. Spent about $100 in all, I'm good with that.
