I've tried searching before posting to no avail. I recently purchased a 2005 Lexus RX330 with 90k. The problem is the ac blows ice cold while moving, but when stationary it becomes warm. After countless hours of online searching and troubleshooting I was led to believe it is a problem with the fan assembly. Upon inspection it appears only 1 fan works(passenger side) whether ac is on or engine running and hot. My car doesn't overheat but temp gauge does appear to be a little over the middle mark. Question is: Is this normal operation for this Lexus(first Lexus I've owned) where only 1 fan works and the other comes on at rare times?? Other cars I've owned both fans usually turn on. Second question: If its a problem with the fans how would I go about troubleshooting?? Fuse, Relay locations??

The manual info on the cooling fan operation is confusing in a few places and not very clear on some things.
On my 2004 RX330:
BOTH cooling fans come ON- when the engine is cold and AC is on.
Driver Side for sure(and maybe passenger side too-I will double check this) cooling fan is ON- when AC is OFF but engine temp(as seen on my scanner) hits 207F.
If your driver side fan never comes on you may consider diagnosing this asap.
PS- your AC symptoms do suggest a possible cooling fan issue but more importantly a possible overheating issue too.

I agree; it sounds like it could very well lead to a overheating issue if left unchecked as last i checked both fans on 07 rx350 are on at the same time when the motor temp is both cold and warm. i could be wrong on this but i will check mine later on when i have a moment to confirm
