until belt dries up

 

I would tighten it first if it doesn't have any sign of damage or high milage

 

odd thing is the manager of the shop i go to who i trust by the way; said when they checked it; the belt was "tracking" straight. They also put a scope up to the idler pulley and they heard nothing. So with that said it could sound like maybe a bearing in one of the pulleys on its way to wearing out?

 

My squeaking belt was tracking straight, it was just slipping, whether due to being dirty or old or slightly thinner then OEM, or old tensioner.

BTW, on RX350, there is no "manual" way to adjust tension, there is only one belt and the automatic tensioner handles it. To replace tensioner, you have to remove a bunch of stuff, belt, alternator, the fan shroud (maybe, you do if removing A/C, not sure if alternator) a couple of wiring plugs. To replace belt, just the wheel and cover as stated above.

 

I'll second that.

Also, if you are just getting a chirp sound on start up or screeches for a second or two and you notice it in the morning when it's cooler- it sound like the belt is slipping a little.
If it sounds better with the AC off this could be dead giveaway.

PS- I like the belt setup better on the RX350 than my RX330.

how the heck are ya supposed to get to the tensioner way down in there anyways? i mean from the looks of what i could see it looks really "tight" down in there. like i said though it hasnt been doing it all the time; just randomly from time to time. so with that said could it possibly be the bearing?
