I know this a pretty subjective issue; and that its been discussed a many a time before; but; i figured i would ask anway; Ive been using a synthetic blend for my oil changes. But!; should i realistically be using full synthetic instead? or even just high mileage oil since mine is well well over the 100,000 mile mark?

Dont be fooled by ALL the different oils. Synthetic oil IS scientifically better but SO WHAT. Its not a PW4080 Jet engine. on a B757. Have you ever in your life ever heard of anyone saying " Engine failure! Oil broke down!" ....NO, because that is total BS. Buy MOBILE 1 Full Synthetic (why buy a blend -that is total marketing BS that allegedly helps swell your seals.....Really??) at Walmart for $25 for 5 QTS and move on.

It's up to you what you'd use. But I will say theres a really great chance that the PO used a full synthetic oil being a Lexus. IDK what oil you've used before on your previous vehicles. "bout the high mileage oils, pass on that crap....ID care how many miles you have on the motor....Also pass on those blends as well....Your either in or out.....Dino oil vs man made made. Synthetic's are just better.....Just on Bobtheoilguy board or just a quick google will tell you......Don't let the marketing guys get to you.....Basic Mobil 1 jug & a good filter from Wallyworld will do 'ya. Best to get two jugs & use the 2nd jug to top off the additional 1.5qtr the 2gr motor takes......btw I've been using Mobil 1 since it was in the cans.

I follow the recommendation: 5w30. If it is synthetic, semi-synthetic, etc., I don't worry about it. The only concern is whether they are from recognized brands: Castrol, Mobil, Shell, Pentosin, Motul, etc.

And, and if I lived in a very cold place, I would use 0w30.

well i think for right now im just gonna stick with what ive been using because so far i havent had any issues.

For what you buy for your regular dino oil, you can get the Wallyworld Brand High mileage Synthetic oil. Take this option, seems like a no brainer but whatever works for you.

Great point......btw the basic synthetic oil is even less then the HM synthetic.

I`d be more concerned about its the correct weight, and its replaced correctly.

well I don’t do my own oil changes. I go to the shop I use and trust just down the street from me. And for regular oil changes they use a Valvoline synthetic blend. And no I’m not gonna go anywhere else
to get it done.

Could always bring in your own oil or ask for a full synthetic, which Valvoline offers......btw Wallyworld's price on a jug of Valvoline full synthetic is $21.57........

Can’t as company policies won’t allow customers to bring in their own parts etc. so I have to do what I have to

If you already have a trusted shop why even bother about thinking about changing the oil type. Leave it be and enjoy!

well; i was just double checking as ive seen some posts/threads in the past eluding to the fact that these rx's should be running full synthetic oil. But; thus far i havent had any problems running the synthetic blend.

Its up to you as you know what oil type to use......You threw a thread up 'bout the different types of oil, so what you expect to hear (read)? If you have a shop you like & they won't use any other type of oil, then it seems like it really doesn't matter......I believe you already know that a synthetic oil is better then dino oil.....Jump on Bobtheoilguy

I worked for a national chain back in the day and people brought their own special oil in all the time and we gladly obliged.

It doesn't sound like the shop that has your loyalty wants to accomodate their customers but ok, just saying you should be able to use whatever oil you want and nobody should tell you otherwise or suffer lost business.
Also, if you are going to a "Quick Change" oil place they may not let you bring your own because they gouge big time for synthetic oil- ripping people off.
