I just purchased 2 new headlight assemblies and a new front Suspension Headlight Leveling Sensor. One of my headlights was corroded and I was told the sensor was bad and I needed a new one. I had them all installed and now the AFS light is still blinking and the headlights do not go up/down left/right when turned on -even though a new sensor has been installed. Would anyone have any advice on this issue?

Did your old headlights go up or down before you replaced them?
RX330 or RX350?
Not sure if there is any difference in wiring, etc between models or not yet.

yes! One day all of these lights came on VSC, ABS, check engine ect. I didn’t know what was going on. I took it into the mechanic- he said it was that sensor. He took it out and said he wasn’t able to find a replacement just then but would look into it. He said it was fine to drive w/out. I did (with the AFS light blinking). Then my low beam bulb went-turned out the whole headlight assembly was corroded as the seal had broke. Bought 2 new headlight assemblies off ebay as well as the sensor mentioned above. I had both installed. Was finally able to see it last night and lights do not adjust when initially turned on. Also AFS light still blinking. Mechanic had said it should go off in a few days....it’s been 4 days and hasn’t happened.

The good ol' days of paying the mechanic before you get your keys and drive home are gone and this is a perfect example. lol
I highly recommend inspecting any work done and verifying check engine,ABS,VSC, etc lights are off before paying, especially on modern cars because of the electrical complexity.
A good shop will have a tech or service writer walk out with you to verify repair before paying.
What were the codes for the initial check engine light?
PS- good news so far is that it's been 4 days and you only have the AFS light blinking but hoping there isn't any "pending" codes not resolved that will show up and throw check engine/abs light again. In all fairness to the tech, you supplied the headlights and sensor and they installed it so not sure how much more work they are willing to do at this point to resolve it.
Ok it took me a while to find the location in the owners manual because I don't have AFS but it appears there is an "AFS Off" button located just above the fuel door button.
Pressing this button will illuminate a lamp in the dash cluster "AFS Off".
If this is working properly and "AFS Off" lamp turns on/off when pressing button on/off this is a big step forward- confirming the AFS ECU is at least powered up and has "brain activity" too.
>> Your headlight motors are directly driven by the AFS ECU and there is more to this complex circuit but need somewhere to start.
Edit- my car does have AFS now that I remember. When I first got it I replaced the old headlights and the new ones were missing the plug for the motors and I installed them anyway and I also faintly remember seeing a module under the dash on drivers side the size of a pack of ciggs that had "AFS" written on it- BUT funny thing is my car does not have the "AFS Off"button shown in the owner's manual even thought it came wired for it. Then again it doesn't surprise me since I have the Tow Package with transcooler and tow package radiator but there was never a hitch installed on the car until I did it.
Thank you so much! You’ve been so helpful! I’m going to try to fix it after work! Many thanks!
You got me thinking and I was 2nd guessing myself so I looked into it a little more.
Please comfirm whether you have AFS or if you have Auto Leveling headlights.
Turns out I found wiring info for 2 different headlight positioning options and what I actually have is Auto Leveling Headlights- Not AFS as shown above- and this is why I have no "AFS Off"button or AFS lamp in the dash cluster.
>> They both have a module that directly drives the headlight motors even though I replaced mine with regular headlights with no motors but cannot confirm if this can be done with AFS.
I believe this is my Auto Leveling lamp when 1st turning key on according to the manual. AFS option will have a "AFS" lamps.
My Headlight Leveling ECU/module is located under the dash above the brake pedal so I hope yours is too since it is accessible.
My module part# confirms I have Auto Leveling Headlights and I was able to read it without removing- Not AFS like I thought.
Circuits are similar in some ways but different in others. I am not able to turn off my Auto Leveling Headlights while AFS can be turned off by pushing a button.
One more thing, If you have AFS and the battery was unhooked, there is an intialization procedure that should clear the blinking AFS light provided everything is working properly.
