Default theft

Yesterday morning, I walked out and found that someone had stolen the exterior passenger side mirror off my 2007 rx350. The housing is all there, but they ripped off the glass mirror with backing plate. Does anyone know the best economical way to replace this? Called the dealer and they wanted $400+ just for the part. I could go the insurance route, but I would still have to pay the deductible.

Thanks.

Wow, thats a real bummer.....Yea you can get the mirror by itself, You should be able to see the 4 pivot mounting points. I take it they cut the wiring for the defrost, hopefully the connector isn't messed up....Possibly just google/yahoo ''mirror glass'' by its self & see what pops up..

Check salvage yards www.Car-part.com is a consolidation site that you can sort by distance or have it shipped.

look for one the same color as yours so no painting

Yea the OP could hitup that site.....He just needs the mirror glass by itself, as the dirtbag theft removed the mirror glass as he mentioned the housing is still there.

i agree with dave here; Salvage yards can sometimes have wrecked rx';s with perfectly good mirrors and they will pick away at the good parts and put them up for sale at a much reduced cost

eBay. They're still pricey but nowhere near $400.

Default Help with stolen mirrors on RX350

Hi, so I woke up today and found both of my side view mirrors stolen. They also decided to snip the wires as well.

I got some quotes that it would be in the $2,000 range for replacement. I'm planning on talking to my regular mechanic on Monday to see what he has to say.

But I'm posting here to hear what y'all would suggest.

That's ridiculous.... Sorry it happened to both sides. They also chopped up both the mirror heater and dimmer so the harness is basically trash.

On the upside, the reason for the high cost of mirrors is the painted/color matched shell which yours is in tact. Try to find two complete mirror assemblies and just swap the guts. I can't see it being more than $500 but I haven't kept up with prices.

Yea...that's what I thought too. Thanks for the input. I'll be sure to ask my mechanic about the wiring harness and if we can rescue that or I need a complete gut.

Any recommendations on where to source the parts? I've been looking at the dealership website and ebay but I don't want to buy a part that is not compatible. I assume I need one that also has heating and autodim like the OEM part.

ebay, craigslist, amazon, facebook marketplace, and local junk/salvage yard are my first picks. Don't even bother with Lexus/Toyota.

As far as I know, all trim level RX's of this gen got dimming and heated mirrors, important is to match the model year of mirror (2004-2009). Don't recall blindspot monitoring ever being offered in this gen like my NX so no issues there.

car-part savage, I assume this would be the closest to what OEM would be

ebay used, also an OEM alternative I assume.

ebay, no autodim and ebay alternative don't have auto dim so I assume these are compatible but not 100%

ebay, glass only, would be missing the wire harness connections since the thief cut the one in the assembly.

No luck on craigslist or amazon.

So I guess my question is, just go with the car-part salvage or something similar from a wrecked RX? Any idea about if the mirror assemblies would include the glass? They don't explicitly mention it but I would probably reach out on Monday when these places are open. Thanks
