Default 400h 2007 Auto-lock feature doesn't work

Hello all, Two days I have been reading stuff about auto lock feature... I have my own user manual, where is stated this step with exactly 5 seconds of holding lock button to set it for example on car move (N position), but it doesn't work for me. After releasing the button after exactly 5sec no confirmation lock/unlock, so sound whatsoever.

Is there some kind of initialization of this function of some hidden workaround that I don't know of?

I have contacted Lexus in Czech Republic - they said I have to bring the car to them on diagnostics. But I believe there is still some setting I can do by myself. FOr example I was able to (thanks to you guys on this forum) reset moonroof window as it wasn't closing properly - now, thanks to tip from here, I did the reinitialization steps and now it works ok.

Thanks

Auto lock when you shift into Drive is only programmable via OBD2. Best is techstream but some diagnostic tools will do this too like an Autel. You do not have to go to a Lexus dealer but do need a good mechanic or someone with a proper diagnostic tool/coder.

But how so? In the manual is stated that I can do it by myself, following the steps with 5sec interval.

Ok, but why is in the manual stated that the 2007 version can do it by user.. following 5 second thing..

it is puzzling me. I was able to reset sunroof (which is not in the manual) but not autolock (which is in manual)

I can't speak for that, not saying the manual is wrong but there are other sure fire ways. I never read the manual anyways unless its for service intervals. But I will tell you, I turned off and then back on the auto lock via techstream myself so I can confirm OBD2 method is legit, also turned off DRL without needing to change the relay.

I tried that myself and it did not work, had to go with the USB to ODB2.

Ok, thanks Lexuswiz. So, I will try to find some cable, do you have a tip (for example on ebay)? Because I driving mostly the city, so for me it is a quite important to set this future on. But I assume, setting auto lock is only one of the possibilities what can I do with the cable and techstream, right

Unfortunately you are not in the US so it will be hard to say what is available for you. But if it is labeled toyota compatible it "should" work, as long as you can find the correct drivers. You'll need to play with it, most of these you find online won't be plug and play but once it works, you are set for life with any toyota/lexus.

And yes, techstream is extremely powerful, it is toyota/lexus' official diagnostic tool. I can customize other settings, program keys (with existing master), read check engine lights, and do transmission fluid changes (for sealed transmissions) with it.

Hi Lexuswiz, I tried the Techstream way - but there was no customization window, where I could set the auto lock feature. Is it possible that my car simply doesn't have this function? My 400h is made in 6/2007 whilst my boss's is 8/2007 - he has this ability.

Hey sorry I missed your replies. I wish I still had my RX330 so I can run it and show you but its long gone. But if I remember correct, you need to get to Body ECU > Customize (on the left toolbar) > Door Lock (NOT Wireless Door Lock) then you will see both "Auto Lock" and "Auto Lock with Shift". Try that, see if it's there.

I doubt it doesn't as my 2005 RX330 could do it, but since you are not in the US, hard for me to say. I've seen this on different year Lexus and Toyota when I run techstream but again, these are US cars.

To be clear - Auto lock does Not automatically lock the car when you walk away,
There is no feature or setting to enable that action.

To clarify the feature: Auto Lock will lock the doors when you:
a) take the shifter out of Park, or
b) when you drive faster than 7 MPH.
Auto Unlock can be programmed for either:
a) putting the car into Park or
b) turning off the ignition.
