Aircon Pump Refurb
Hi folks.
My aircon pump has started to make a loud noise when it's running. I assume this is one of the bearings that is about die.
I was thinking of replacing the pump.
However while watching a car refurb program, I saw that the pumps can be refurbished. (New seals and bearings.)
My question is, does anyone know where a kit can be found? The interner was fruitless.

If it’s making noise when the engine is running but the A/C compressor is off and quiet when the A/C is on, then the hub bearing is bad. The hub bearing is not a difficult replacement, many YouTube videos show how on Toyota/Lexus vehicles, I did mine on my 2001 Avalon, cost around 15.00, not necessary to discharge the system. I think a new Denso A/C compressor is a better option if the noise is internal to the compressor, much more work to repair the internal components and seals. You will have a warranty on part and likely no leaks or problems afterwards. I’d avoid reman compressors, much higher failure rates than a new Denso compressor.
