The Harbor Freight 2-stage upgrade for a few dollars more at $150 is looking more and more attractive.
Also, noticing the brand name economy models all suspiciously look like the cheap ones on ebay with a different handle on ***** on them. hmmm

I have to say I would love to have this beauty, one good looking pump IMO, however I don't think I could ever use it enough
to justify the cost doing DIY on my only car and maybe on my home A/C.

Update 09-02-2021

Hi friends,
Ok it seems a lot has changed in 30 years from what I am seeing with automotive AC Vacuum pumps.
It seems all the major mfgs have a price point of near $400 for pro duty pumps and none are small like the old days.
All the small ones are asian and they jump up to big sizes and weights for the better ones and 2x price point, weight and size.
I know what mine looked like using it several times a week for a couple years and I can say the pro level used ones on ebay are almost all beat with a million miles.
Add- there were some older style ones new in the box or looked good but were 10-20 yr old models and when I emailed the sellers to see if a vacuum test was done they had no way to test them so that was a deal keller since a vacuum pump that won't pull down is worthless.

This is unfortunate because my old Robinair 30 yrs ago I bought on the tool truck was only a tiny 1.2 cfm 2 stage with an Emerson motor if I remember and pulled a good vacuum, 20 mins is all that was needed most of the time and weighed 10 lbs and fit in the tool box. I think I paid $300+ back then but there is no small pro version in any brand I can find except cordless.

My old pump looked liked this but had Robinair labeling, small, compact, reliable, and strong.

So after much research I ordered one of these today- weighs twice as much and is 2-3x the size but has nice features and price point was good.
Has a cut off switch, a gas ballast, a 3 way port with 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" so perfect if I want to mess around with my home AC.
Never used any NAVAC products so I'll do a review and see how it goes- I have to order a compressor and a condensor eventually but may do an evac and recharge first and see how it goes.
