Yes, I've lost all of my actual keys with buttons so I am down to my wonderful Smart Key Card with the chip. I am unclear -- can a US locksmith make me a new key with buttons or do I need to go to a dealer? Also, what is the purpose of the wonderful codes on the smart key card? Thank you. Love my car.

You'll have to check with the locksmith, I would want to say yes if they know what they're doing. I recall the smart key cards are considered a master key and not a valet so it should be fine to re-program new keys to the immobilizer with it. If not, it can get tricky but a Lexus specialist locksmith will know what to do.

You will need to show proof of ownership and provide the VIN so they can pull the key code for the blade cut.
