Keeping my Rx330
After looking at new cars I have deiced to keep my 2004 Lexus Rx330. My question to the group is as follows
1) I want a backup camera built into the console and am looking at a BOSS BE-10ACP-C any (suggestions would be appreciated)
2) The ride has gotten a little rough so replacing all four shocks/struts seem like the right thing to do. What should I expect to pay for that?
Other than that I am not sure what I would do mechanically. The interior is in good shape except for the rear carpet latch. It looks like I would need to take the entire back off just to replace it. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
What would you do?

Good that you are keeping your 2004. Go for the 2 things you want done, pronto so you can feel good about it.

The gen 2's are really great vehicles, specailly when they were compared to the all the other mid size luxury suv's when new. From what I read the quick struts are going to ride a little firmer. Possibly use the oem springs w/ new struts, even thou its more work. A great brake upgrade is to use the gen3 pads/rotors w/ a pr of reman calipers for a '12 rx. Direct bolt on, w/ better stopping power. As far as your back camera, I'd hitup a audio shop.

155000 on my 2008 rx400h. With the price of new cars thinking of these upgrades. Suggestions??
1.on what to get (brand model etc) to upgrade the map to current standards. Can this be done?
2. upgrade the back up camera?
3. adaptive cruise control?
So far I found 17 inch highlander rims in exchange for the 18's. Lot better in snow and rough roads. Cheaper to replace too!
thanks!

ski2days, I believe you can find a more recent map DVD, used / copy on ebay, but it won't be current, just the next generation. I didn't do it yet, but I think you just pop it in a slot somewhere in the boot.
04dennis, Mine has a backup camera. It doesn't really make up for my poor spatial skills with those big blind spots. If anything, it just gives me one more thing to watch. I suppose it does help avoid surprise accidents.
Me, I'd find a projection gps and dash cam / security system an equally or more useful enhancement. I bought a dash cam, but what with my battery issues haven't wired it yet.

With the price of newer cars going up sky high I might keep my old 2004 RX330.
To be honest I like the idea that it has a timing belt and can pretty much tear the engine apart and repair if needed while it's still in the car.
-> Can't say that about the 2GR engine. haha just taking a jab at newer cars to make my old car feel better... lol
I put a new touchscreen radio in it(double din) and it has Waze and stuff but I never set all that up.
Also ran a new backup camera to it and got both the radio and camera at Bestbuy so I probably paid way too much but it works good.

Good call! My dad bought a newer RX, so his 2004 was "retired" to my brother.
I did the full suspension a few years ago, went with Monroe quick struts, there's rebates at timea.
**Be warned they aren't OEM-grade, as I ended up replacing the set of four within 1k miles (but they covered the costs of shipping back & forth and gave me $$ for labor). It could've just been a bad batch from Rockauto also... been good ever since, like ~5-6yrs later.
The radio in these cars is so dated. Luckily we had the one without NAV. I added a double din (killing the steering wheel controls, but gained Carplay), and added a sub to it. At the same time got a generic backup cam.
I had one of those on the dash, but it looks so tacky and required more hassle & wiring as opposed to mounting it directly to an aftermarket unit...
