2008 Rx 350 Repairs 250K Miles
I havent had that many repairs required up to 250k miles. I did radiator like a year ago. My mechanic says my 08 rx350 needed following items.
1. New front right lower control arm.
2. New front right axle
3. Replace power steering pump
4. Missing slide pin from front right brake
5. Redo brake pads since they are currently squeeking. Last purchased Amazon gold pads.
How much should I expect to spend to do all of this? I am currently waiting on price. I will update this with price in case people need it for future reference.

How much does your mechanic charge per hour? I don't see how a slide pin can go missing. Power steering pump is about the last thing to go bad is it leaking? CV axle and control arms are maintenance items. If you get the work done ask for all the old parts they belong to you.

I think he charges 100 per hour. The power steering was leaking badly. The fluid goes from the max to min line about every 3 weeks and I have to refill. He said he would do the ball joint and power steering pump including parts and labor for $800 and he would check and fix the noise on the pads and include that in the price. He told me they have more than 80% wear so not sure why its making noise. We are going to postpone the CV axle for another day. The missing slide pin is wierd. I called the dealer and they said they carry the slide pin for 20 bucks but I have to know if its the upper or lower slide pin. I got the second opinion and quote was 350 for ball joint and 750 for power steering including labor and parts. Probably going Monday to do the job.

Really best to replace both A-arms as your there doing one side. New complete A-arms come complete w/ b/j's & bushings, ready to install. Since your there doing the A-arms great time to install a new reman p/s pump.....

Yes eventually my car would new A-arms and new b/j's and bushing on all 4 sides. Doesnt make sense to do that on just on 1 side. I believe I do already have new lower control arms on that side already from a previous crash my sister had. Another argument would be do both ball joints in the front. Again, with 250k miles, probably every part in the car needs changing so all I can do is focus on 1 bad part at a time. I cant spend money on "preventative maintenance." Both mechanics said only the ball joint and axles are needed so Im going with that.
