Default small windshield chips

I got two adjacent tiny chips on the windshield recently. Bought the Permatex Windshield Repair Kit at Autozone. Going to watch some how to videos on it.
Scotty has one
Any experience with these, for or against, advice, better alternatives?

I had great results with the Permatex repair kit.
Youtuber "Chrisfix" has a better video on it.

Scotty is always hillarious, but Chris is so thorough and always makes you feel like you can do it.
Some reviewers seem to prefer the RainX Windshield repair kit
Amazon Amazon
The application has four suction cups that go around the crack to put less pressure on it.
But Chris Fix and others say the suction on the plunger of the Permatex kit, does a good job of getting the air out. It may just depend on the damage.

It came out pretty good. Not invisible, but I think it will help prevent it from spreading. The first chip came out pretty well, but the kit is not designed to do two chips. There is enough resin, but the adhesive base is not designed to be reused.
  • The kit says it can repair chips up to 1.25" diameter, but the hole in the adhesive base is just a few mm. The resin goes in through the hole in the base and will suffuse through the crack under the base.
  • My chips were < 10 mm apart and covered under the area of the base, but not connected. After doing the larger chip, I carefully removed the adhesive base and reused it on the second chip. (Reusing requires another person to hold the base steady, rather difficult to do, but doable for my tiny chip.)
  • Tip: Don't overpressurize the plunger. As Chris says, the more air pressure you apply, the better you can get out the air bubbles ... unitl you overdo it and force the resin out of the crack. Then you have to start over. Overdid it on the second crack and didn't have enough resin to start over. Since it was a tiny chip, I just moved on, putting a dab of resin on top of each chip, and applying the clear plastic square to cure in the sun.
  • Except for the adhesiveness of the base, the whole kit is reusable if cleaned up well afterward. Just need more resin and to improve the temporary adhesion of the base, when reusing. Ideas?
I'm set for now. The kit consists of a tiny tube of resin, an irrigation syringe (to apply resin), a plastic base, a double sided adhesive disc (not so adhesive 2nd time), a curing strip (a square of clear flexible plastic), a razor blade, an alcohol wipe, a push pin, and very good instructions (also on website). The push pin is to clean up the crack, also good to clean up the syringe afterward.
