So, first off I have some bad news. My Dad passed away back on February 5th of this year, he had covid pneumonia and although being healthy, he passed away in a little more than 2 weeks from contracting the virus, it has been a very difficult time.
I have his car now which is a 2009 RX 350, silver with gray leather interior, so now I have 2 RXs. So anyway, the wood steering wheel in the 2009 has a spot on the top of the steering wheel where the coating has been stripped away and I was wondering what I could use to fill it back in and be smooth again, the spot is about 2 or 3 inches long across the top of the wheel. The wood itself is fine, just the clear coating needs to be repaired.
I really like driving this one, makes me feel close to my Dad and I would like to keep it around for a long time. Thanks for any suggestions.

Lexus uses a multi layer process not sure you can duplicate it. Could carefully feather sand the edges then put a bunch of polyurethane coats on top. I've use a company in Texas called Craft Customs they can make the wheel look any way you want, or restore it to original. Pricey but worth it IMO.
Sorry about your dad mine had cancer a few years ago. Rest in peace dad.
