Default 2007 RX350 - Ignition Coils

I am looking at an error code P0352, and from the looks of it I have a faulty ignition coil in my #2 cylinder (front passenger). I figure with 148k miles and having just purchased the car, I would change the plugs and then look at the coils. Here is the question... I can find coils at $100 for six and I can find Lexus oem at $150 for one. I dont want to cheap out and have to redo things but I also dont want to spend $150 for a single coil. I was thinking of just changing all of them but maybe that is not the right idea either. Any comment from people with some experience?

Thanks!!

Put a coil from a different cylinder into #2 see if the problem moves with the coil. 6 coils for $100 is too good to be true there is no need to replace all of them if one is bad.

Thanks, I just did that and will go get the error code read, I assume the code will be different if it is now in the front center cylinder. I unplugged the battery and the error came back right away. A Delphi coil is $60, a far cry from the $150 Lexus coil.

Appreciate the comment!

Also good are Denso or NGK coil from Rockauto (they also list Delphi), i.e.: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=7060&jsn=940

Thank you for the reply. I will give an update to my problem later today. I switched #2 with the #4 cylinder and will see what code it is now throwing.I dont have a code reader, so I'll swing by my local Autozone on my way home.

So, I was on my way to get my codes read again after swapping my #2 and #4 ignition coils. I get halfway there and the check engine light shuts off. What the heck... I don't know if I have a question or not but I found this strange. I guess I will just wait to see what happens.

Buy a $35 code reader it will be good enough for your purpose. There may be stored codes or as above a flaky connection you "cured" by moving the coils around.

I was guessing the loose plug but it didn't seem loose. The connectors are old and brittle. Someone before me zip tied the 4 and 6 plugs. When I unhooked the 2 I could see why.

I'm going to replace the spark plugs soon... so until then I'll just drive it and see what happens.

Appriciate all the replies from everyone. I dont really have the money to take it to a shop right now.

That's a good idea. 6 for $15. I'll add that to the list when I change the plugs.

My front coil pack connector plugs went bad first, crusty & brittle and making bad connection.

Rears don't seem to get so hot.

Plz can I recommend getting your own scanner that will read codes and live data if you want to save money and have convenience, you won't regret.

It looks like you just confirmed you had a bad #2 Coil, which you then switched to #4.
Isn't that what you did, switch the coils?

I think if you replace that ignition coil, all your codes will disappear...until another coil fails, which they will eventually because they're all the same age/miles.

Correct, I switched the coils. I have changed 2,4,6 sparkplugs. They look pretty bad to me. Anyone care to guess the milage on these plugs? I don't have any idea, I've only had the car for about 6 months. Will start on 1,3,5 plugs. Those will take more time.
