AliX cheap dash cover (carpeted)
Instead of replying to a thread and getting buried, I figured I'll upload some pics.
Note: This is fresh, so I'm sure it will still spread/unwrinkle out over time in the heat, as its squeezed into a small package.
Cons:
- they make it by default with slits in the middle for a center dash speaker
- its not the "full" width of the dash (about 0.5-1" space between pillar & cover, but this is expected I think)
- the cutout are not perfectly aligned with the defrost section, similar issue to above, I may just cut it in the future and leave it "open" instead of the holes
- provided velcro stickers are cheap, maybe it was too hot that that, I advise getting better branded ones from a hardware store
Pros:
- it costs peanuts, I paid like 23$ CAD shipped
- it definitely covers the gross cracks which I poorly repaired with Sugru glue
- with some adjusting it will be "good enough", and for the price, you won't beat the solution
- if you want to get fancy, it comes with different colored piping lol

I went w/ http://Coverking.com dash mat......Even thou, it doesn't have any cracks or issues, the oem dash pad is so cheap & cruddy feeling/looking vs other manufactures....Toyota sure did cheap out for the dash pad on the gen2's.......The Coverking fits great after I mocked it up & trimmed the leading edge. They give you a choice of material & color....I went w/ black poly carpet version....They offer a molded version as well.....I've used these on a couple Mustang's as well as a Camaro....so it was a no brainer after looking at this rx oem dash pad.....

Someone replaced the dash in my car before I bought it but seen plenty of cracked dashes on these and I think pretty any much cover product that doesn't look obscene looks better than a cracked peeling dash.
I do know what it's like because the older Toyota 4 Runners had same issues.
Mine started with a thousand tiny and almost hard to see with spider cracks and progressed to large cracks.
Was horrendous.

Honestly, this car did not suffer from the crack syndrome. Perhaps because its in Canada, so it sees the two extremes of temps year round. I've never put protectants or anything, just kept it clean.
The damages were self-inflicted from Home Depot trips and general use as a hauling vehicle... so it added gouges & cracks over the years. My brother is not doing any of that, so I may as well add something nicer to cover up my **** poor repair efforts.
