cabin sound level ????
Now that I have finished tightening up my door seal. (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...l#post11298120)
I was wondering what is my cabin sound level? So I downloaded an APP. from the google play store and did a reading on the level in my cabin.
Local Dive 40 MPH (average 77 dba)
Freeway driving (average 77 dba).
Tolerable by not there yet.
Is anyone willing to share their readings?

Great idea. I’ll measure my Highlander today on the way to work then the Lexus tomorrow.

Highlander:
Idle - 49.9 - 51.5 dba
40 mph - 57.5 dba
HWY 68 - 71 dba
I have no roof rack, lots of sound deadening, and an exhaust + intake mods, my RX should be similar to yours. No rips in any of my door seals.

Boy, I have some work to do, thought about removing the roof rack but need to run that by the Misses. I would be surprised to see any numbers lower than those. Looking forward to seeing the Lexus numbers.

2008 RX350:
Idle: 48 dba
40 mph: 64-67 dba
HWY: 73 dba
The RX also has all the door seals intact, but I also have no roof rack and lowering springs which is probably influencing my results slightly.

Looks good to me. I will check my Idle level, I am getting a little more noise from the engine compartment than I notice before. Still thinking of deadening the wheel wells. this is more of a challenge than a necessity. (I woulder what Bentley's sound level is) thanks for your input.

No problem! The wheel well deadening sucks to do, but you (and your passengers) will be thanking yourself when it’s done!
Next time when I take out the 2014 RX350, I’ll test the sound levels of it to. It seems quieter than my 2nd gen and even my Highlander by quite a bit, but the exhaust is noticeably louder than my 2nd gen RX by design (although it doesn’t sound amazing and open up when you floor it like in the Highlander).

I put the sound deadening on the inside behind the plastic trim on the bare metal near the strut towers, I feel like this is the best way to do it as it’ll hold up.
No smell from the Noico 80 mil, good stuff

Thanks. So you did not use a spry? And the mat reduced the noise? I was thinking of spraying the complete wheel, now I may not have to. Could I ask you how big mats prices you used? Did you do the backs as well?? Sorry for all the questions but your sound levels really impress me.

Did all the doors, rear hatch, trunk, rear wheel well / strut tower. I put big, full pieces (12x12”) down where I could, but 100% coverage won’t help any more than 30% in the right places where there are thin pieces of metal that can transmit echos.

Ok so let me get this right. You took off all the door panels and the rear hatch. Wheel wells and the strut tower cover (is that inside the car?) How many pieces did you use? So far I can not see anything I am not willing to handle. Need to lubricate my power windows track anyway (two birds one stone.) What about the engine bay. I haven't inspected it yet but there must be places to help deaden the engine sound? (not sure why I am doing all of this when I could just take my hearing aids out) Thanks for the help

That’s right! I still need to do the roof, maybe I’ll try that on the RX first. I used about 20ish sqr feet of material for the whole car, but I could probably get away with a lot less now.
I used the denim behind rattling plastic, holding it on with carpet adhesive
