2007 rx350 alignment
Hi All,
Took my 07 to Firestone to have alignment the shop told me in order to get the alignment done I have to replace right ball joint and rear struts, I understand the ball joint but does the bad rear struts affecting the alignment ?
Thank you in advance.

There are members on here much stronger than me on suspension and brakes but I will give my input to the forum for anyone following this thread.
First thing, I hope they didn't charge you for that.
2nd thing, I recommend taking to another shop and being there outside the bay observing when it's up on the rack.
Ask them to check the suspension for play before alignment and let them know ahead of time if they find anything wrong you want to be shown to you while it's on the rack.
Reason for this is simple- if suspension parts are worn they can demonstrate this to you my moving tires and see alignment specs drift in & out on the machine- you want to see this.
There is other problems with what they told you but I'll leave some for everyone else.

If the struts are worn out, then yea it'd be a bouncy mess going down the freeway which'd effect your camber & toe thanx to the suspension travel, not being controllled via good dampers. To add, I'd replace both b/j's as well. Get a pair of kyb's & uuse the oem springs.....Possibly best just to replace the b/j's (3 bolts) vs replacing the A-arms. How many miles does your vehicle have? Possibly good to replace the front struts as well.....Use the oem strut mounts, don't use the kyb ones. As well as you'lll then need a 4 way alingment to set the front/rear toe.......
