Default Issue with gas cap (Part#:7730006040)

Hi,

Does anyone have any issue with this gap cap (Part#:7730006040)? I have a 2008 RX350. Recently I got a code P0456 (Evap small leak) so I purchased the OEM gas cap from Lexus dealer and hoping this might solve the problem. According to the dealer's website and their service department, the cap I purchased fits my car. I put the new cap on, rotated it all the way and it made a click sound, but as soon as I let go, the cap slipped back and "unclicked" itself. I've tried many times and it does the same thing. I drove a little bit and got a code with Evap gross leak. It is obvious that the cap is not sealed.

Anyone has similar issue with this gas cap?

77300-06040 is the correct part, any chance the old gasket somehow got on the new cap meaning you have two gaskets?

@LeX2K The old gasket is still on the old cap so that's not the issue. I even cleaned the opening of the filler neck...

Put the new gasket on the old cap see if it works properly.

I thought the “unclicking” is normal. Our RX and LS both does that.

perhaps it’s not normal.

Ask them for a replacement or refund.
PS: Toyota dealer has the same part for less $$$.
