Default finally got an error code for my warning lights: P0356

I now know the error is for #6 ignition coil. The replacement coil from Denso is Denso 673-1309. It is $38 at Amazon and nearly $100 everywhere else. If the price is too good to be true...is it too good to be true?

Amazon Amazon

I would advise you get it at rock auto because many of the oem parts listed on Amazon and eBay are alibaba:/ do gate counterfeits

Default received and installed Denso ignition coil from Amazon

The $38 part from Amazon was in a factory sealed carton and the part was labeled made in Japan. It looked like the real deal. Installed into the #6, F, driver side front position. It took all of 5 minutes to do the install. Used my obd reader to turn off the warning lights. In over 100 miles since install all systems seem just right.

they are pretty good at making counterfeits these days,
You just need to make sure the seller is reputable. But rock auto is a more sure bet. However if you need multiple parts they really funk you over on shipping.

I need to replace one and hope it is one in the front. I have replaced one in the front about a year ago, this is my 2nd COP to replace on my 2004 RX330. They are still stiff at $50 each, hope they are OEM and will last. In my old days, we manufactured the plastic that houses the coils. They are pretty high performance plastic, quite expensive and hard to mold, they flow like water and need super high temperatures to melt. It is "PPS Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)" with 40% Glass Fiber Filler.

Default $36.50 at Amazon

If yours is a front one then little to zero risk of buying this one from Amazon. So far worked flawlessly for me:

I ended up getting a replacement Ignition Coil from Mazon, cost about $50, Japan made. Came today and since it is one of the fronts, it was a breeze. It looks legit made in Japan, I could tell since in my prior work, we molded the case that housed the coils. And it works good. I would not buy anything costing less than $50 for an Ignition Coil (we called it Stick Coil when we produced them for Denso). Hoping it will last. Happy that it was not one of the ones in the back. knock on wood, that would have been a "job."
