Side view mirror - bubbles under glass

Side view mirror - bubbles under glass
Both my heated auto dimming side view mirrors suddenly developed bubbles under the glass. See attach pic. Replacing just the glass does not look hard. Does anyone know what caused this to happen? Is there an underlying problem that needs to be addressed so it doesn’t happen again after replacement? 2008 RX 350, 247,000 miles. Thanks in advance.

Have never seen a mirror failure to that extent, but you did get 1/4 of a million miles out of it. I'm guessing the bond between the glass and silver coating failed. Best of luck finding a replacement, new or even used ones are a small fortune.

Something similar happened to mine, I just took a knife and drained the fluid and then put some new glass on top. 10 dollar fix. I would have preferred that these cars didn't come with auto-dimming side mirrors. Every one I find at the junkyard has failed in a way like this too.
