04 RX 330 headlights replacement
OK I figure somebody knows this problem. Cant find correct replacement headlights. meaning the plastic housing that includes outer clear lens, inner structure to put bulbs in. Call it a bucket or what ever. My outer lens are faded, foggy from old age. Polishing not an option as there seems to be a clear flexible stick on membrane over the actual plastic lenses. Its peeling up from the edges. Couldnt just peel off, left glue behind.
Its a japan built 04 rx 330 bought used, cheap from cousin when it was just 4 yrs old. It has the H I D lights with the transformer box. These lights are auto elevating for level, BUT are not so called adaptive lights that look around a corner. No off switch etc. I have the original window sticker, no mention of auto level, let alone adaptive. They do have one little electric motor that runs the up and down. It does have the leveling sensor device on rear axle.
I have a new pair of headlight bucket that are for this year, model, without adaptive, with H I D. The bulb does not seat correctly into bucket, hold down clip is different, and location of bulb seat is further to rear of car. ALL the sites Ive researched exclude adaptive lights. Any solutions appreciated. Thanks.

Lexus Fanatic
Troll Ebay you should find what you want, be patient could take a few weeks or maybe you'll get lucky right away. Your lights are auto leveling they don't auto aim.
Another option is get aftermarket halogen lamps and put LEDs in them. The reflector bowl on these is pretty large they take well to LED bulbs. This channel reviews many LEDs

Yes auto level. Really trying to stay with H I D. My old eyes like them. Now Im wondering if I can just buy a H I D bulb that will fit the new buckets I have. Would lose auto level but dang I like to H I D. I travel a lot with three of us and luggage, and a thule roof box full of light bulky stuff. The auto level works so great. Search goes on...Thanks for reply.

Headlamp lens replacement
I searched for MONTHS to try to figure out which headlight replacements would work with my 2004 RX330. It seems there were about 4 variants of headlamps for this model (including Japan and canada built) I had the Canada built and they all seemed to be priced hundreds of dollars more than japan built. I finally tracked down a lexus service bulletin L-SB-0019-14 that gave me a replacement part number. I was able to get them off ebay for a good price. If you have an 04 japan built with the HID bulbs but WITHOUT the AFS (adaptive front lighting, if you have it the switch will be near the fuel door button) then the part numbers should be:
LH : 81185-48210
RH: 81145-48210
If you search EBAY for these part numbers you will find them. I bought from seller EVERYDAYAUTOPARTS and was very pleased. There was one unusual thing i found when replacing them. The original headlamps in my vehicle actually had all the hardware for the AFS system on the headlamp but the power plug that would have connected it was not on my vehicle. so they used the more advanced headlamp assembly but just didnt hook up the hardware. This caused me some confusion because the headlamps looked different, but just ignore any connector that you are missing and these worked fine.
