Default Footwell Lights - 2009 RX350

Sorry if this was covered in another thread, however I read many threads about the replacing the orange footwell lights to white LED but only saw how others open up the black plastic piece holding the orange bulb. I recall a few years ago, I replaced the footwell bulbs in another lexus and I was able to buy the black piece with the bulb, which was a simple swap. I found a bag with the black parts but they're the old orange bulbs. The part number on the Toyota bag is 81080-22040 but I cannot find anything on line to tell me if this is the white LED or the orange. I called a Lexus and Toyota parts department but the guys couldn't tell me which color it is. Does anyone know?

Also, I was able to twist off the black piece under the passenger easy, but driver side twisted but its' blocked by another cable and i was concerned about forcing it out, especially since the knee airbag is located in the same area. Any hints on how to remove it without pulling out all the plastic covers?

Here are photos of the part I want to replace with white led

81080-22040 are the white ones. However, I wasn't impressed with the output of these either. They're a little brighter but too dim. I would get some bright LED 3030 chips and solder them in.

FYI -The white led (81080-22040) was first used in the Lexus in 2004 in many models. But the RX was not one of them until the 2011 model. It is still used today.

Thank you both for your responses. Now that you confirmed the part number is the white ones, I am good with these.

if you wouldn't mind sharing with me how to remove the driver side black light piece. Does the small panel cover at the knee with SRS imprinted on it simply unclip, or is there more to removing this bulb. The passenger bulb was easy to remove, but I struggled with figuring out the driver side

Thank You,

If I recall correctly I do remember seeing clips on the airbag cover to take it off. I would check eBay parts pics to confirm. I had the whole dash apart incl the knee airbag for other reasons so while I was there it was easy to access. It wasn't very to take apart in the first place. The worst part is dealing with the hood latch cable but you can leave that connected if you have to remove more trim pieces.
