I know exactly what you mean by curling the edge of the tape to not have a distinct "line" of new paint.
Luckily, I don't need to blend any paint. The paint color matched perfectly.

I put the fender on today and I'm calling it Done.

Thats great as long as your happy/good w/ the paint match. I used to have to tweak the color for weathered paint even if it was a couple yrs old. I'd recomend you compound & polish the hood & door to bring the clarity out of the clear coat,so it'll match better.
