Final goodbye

Wifey got hit at parking lot. Hardly any impact but the puncture from the hitch was bad. Initially it was deem repairable, but once the door was taken out, the frame around the door was bent, raising the repair cost and deemed totalled.

This is a very well maintained RX that could have another 8 years. Had to say final goodbye to it after 12 good years.

If you were closer would try to figure out how to get some of those clean body parts from Junk yard or who ever ends up with that car.

My daughters 2010 RX is the same color and could use PS fender, front bumper and lower bumper plastic piece.

Sorry for your loss

They about total everything these days did they give you the option to buy it back after they cut you a check? I’ve learned my lesson with a similar case but the tailgate was pushed in from a high school kid texting and failing to stop in time at a stop sign should have bought it back after settlement and fixed it myself….

Very sorry to see that! That's an incredible amount of damage for parking lot. Was she basically t-boned with the truck backing out of a stall at high speed?

Just like a organ donor, this RX will still live on providing parts or possible full rebuild in its after”totaled”Life.

We decided to move on, too much headache to deal with it. If we were retired, it might have been a different story.

No, slow speed but it was enough
to cause that puncture damage from the hitch when that idiot backed out of the parking lot without looking what's behind him. It got worst when he moved forward to pull out the hitch. The sad thing is, there was no damage on the *******'s truck.

Lots of it too. Plus it has Focal speakers front and back, clean sweep EQ, and JL amp and subwoofer.

Sure hope that moron with the hitch has good insurance. What value did the insurance company assign to your RX as a totaled vehicle, and are you going to fight them for a higher value?

Door panels can be repaired/fixed but with the bend in the structure [specially if the wheel position has been knocked off kilter] it is best to say goodbye. I hope you got enough in compensation.

Best of all is that no one got hurt physically.

General note for readers: We are getting used to the safety features like proximity warnings. As you drive any older vehicle, please make sure that you are not counting on those new features to be present.

It was surprisingly reasonable at 15K as they based it on the mileage and the market value in and around the state. No, we let it go sadly so we can move on.

For this, it didn't matter as where my wife was hit, there was no way she could have avoided it.
