Default Issue - Long Crank During Warm Start

New to the forum, so thank you for any advisory ahead of time. I just purchased 2014 w/ 125k, "well" maintained for the most part. Day 1 already have an interesting issue. At warm start (vehicle off 20 min), restarting has, what i would call, a long crank start. Battery tested fine at rest and at crank. I put 91 E10 from local gas station, added Techron, still on this tank but no resolve. Worried that its the Fuel Pump/Regulator but wanted to seek advisory from the best on this forum. See attached video of issue. Appreciate any guidance!

Default Intermittent long cranking

My 2013 RX350 has been experiencing intermittent long cranking when starting the car. I have noticed a pattern where it will crank long if I leave the car off for about an hour to an hour and a half, but WILL CRANK NORMALLY after letting the car sit for more than two hours or within 15 minutes of leaving the car off. Does anyone know what the cause of this is? I have recently replaced the starter motor, as well as the battery.

From google:

Why does my engine crank longer when it's worm?
If it is a "warm restart extended cranking", almost always it is low fuel pressure caused by a plugged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump.

It doesn’t explain the fact that it cranks normally if I turn the car off and turn it back on within 5-10 minutes, but will take longer to crank after 1-1 1/2 hours or so. If I leave the car for more than two hours than it will crank normally the next time I start the vehicle

I was chasing this issue for almost a month. I replaced the ENTIRE fuel pump assembly on my 2014 RX 350. Zero issues since the replacement. I wish i had the fuel injection cleaning and other expensive useless attempts to resolve the issue (Mechanics cannot spend that much time for a diag fee and make money).

Not that i received ANY help or replies, but replacing the entire Fuel Pump Assembly has resolved the issue.

Here was my first post that i got zero help so at least you got lucky and people care about you.. Long story short, that video i posted was when it first began. After two weeks, it was slowly/progressively worse with extreme heat (but when it cooled, the pump would hold pressure), and/or parking on a hill/against gravity/hood high angle. As i stated, wish i could get my money back from the injector cleaning costs that i am sure didn't hurt anything, just my wallet. I did get to see the true colors of many mechanics/shops in my area. Replacement was NOT difficult, just annoying and intense prep time to execute properly. There are good videos out there to build your comfort. Godspeed!

Thank you for your feedback! I will look into it and see what I find. It doesn’t seem to be a big issue so I’m planning on leaving it alone until it gets worse.

One thing to note is this issue has been going on for about half a year now. I live in Texas and temps are as high as 110 °F. The car will crank normally in high temp weather, with a few intermittent long cranks ever so often. It will also show symptoms in cold weather as well. Which is weird.

100% agreed. Some issues you have to wait until they break/throw codes. My worries were related to downstream effects from this issue that would cause bigger/more expensive issues later. Would be nice if Toyota would've incorporated a fuel pump pressor sensor to at least give us a check engine light to nail down the culprit. I am sure that would be another failure point and potentially cause issues that i am unaware of thus here we are. Regardless, i know your heat being in OKC, so hang in there!

Thanks for the update. Was there anything wrong with the pump that you could see?

Did you think that video represented a long crank? Seemed pretty normal to me.

I am no expert. My only oddities that i could report is it was actually "hot" to the touch when i removed it from the assembly. Car had been off for at least an three hours and i had started it to move into garage for about 30 seconds.. I did not go through the pressure test (inline) to determine if it was the issue either. I called it the "Enigma".

... 70% of the people i sent that video too said the same thing....That was the start of the problem "crank" video. Two weeks in the sun after that video it was at least 5 seconds to crank. I have startup immediate now with zero hesitation.

How many miles were on your vehicle when you had to replace your fuel pump assembly?

** Never mind -- your first post says 125,000 miles.
