Default 2010 RX350 turn signal multifunction handle

Does the steering wheel need to be removed to replace the turn signal multifunction lever?

Got to fit around column. Letting my mechanic friend do this. I really don’t want to remove steering wheel. Thanks!

The steering wheel is really easy to remove. No puller tool required, just a 19mm socket, extension and maybe a bonk or two with the palm of your hand to free it. Make sure to mark where it fits on the splines so your wheel is straight after. I don't see a way of it coming off, unless it's an older Toyota like a 1998 Corolla where it's not wrapped around the column.
