2010 RX350 with 185,000 miles. Just had shocks and struts replaced all the way around. Rear spring was broken so they had to replace them. The day after I developed a terrible squeak from the right rear. It's really bad. The local shop that did it told me to be patient and that it'd work itself out, saying it was where the spring sits on the rubber gasket and it will settle down. I can't live with the squeak as it's driving me crazy. In my 72 years, I've never known of a sqeak to get better over time, it normally gets worse.
What is causing the squeak, shock, or spring/gasket? What should I ask of the repair shop?

No telling what they managed to do (or misalign, or leave off) when they did the suspension work. I would take the vehicle back and insist that they figure it out and fix it. If the squeak was not present when you took the vehicle to them, it is their problem, not yours. I wonder if they had to cut some of the old bolts off (due to rust) and did not properly replace them or torque down the new ones.

Do you mind if I ask how much it cost? I need new front r/l suspension control arms. It's a 20-hour, $2500 job in the RX450h because the engine has to be lifted. How much more should I pay for shocks and struts?

You need to get a couple of more estimates because there are shortcuts and raising the engine is not as horrible as they make it out to be. It is not near 20 hours. You must have gone to a dealer. You need an independent mechanic. This chassis is on millions of Toyotas and they all know how to replace the control arms.
If you really need the control arms. They often point to cracked bushings and say you need them, when the truth is they are all cracked and you can drive 200,000 more miles that way and never notice a problem. Only if you have a steering or driving problem related to the control arms should they be replaced. Dealer service writers work on commission and love to scare customers into repairs that are not needed. Get it evaluated by a local mechanic. Look on Google or Yelp for some with good reviews.
Shocks and struts pricing varies depending on who does it and what they use. Again any independent can do this as it is routine. Get a few quotes. Expet it to be over a $1000.

I did shop around, a lot. You must live in a less expensive area. Dealer quoted me $4700 for the same work. I've already put 50k miles on it since the work was first recommended by a trusted mechanic where I used to live. The vehicle has 180k. I'm starting to see accelerated irregular tire wear on the front right, which has started making a squeaky creaky sound when there is a force in the right direction against that wheel. It's not pulling or shaking yet, but it's time to get the work done. $2300 was the lowest of anyone who seemed to know what they're doing, a Japanese auto specialist. One guy who works out of his home garage said $850, but I have learned sometimes you get what you pay for.

You must live in a less expensive area, or be unaware of inflation. The Lexus dealer quoted me $4700. Toyota dealership won't work on it. One guy working in his home garage said he'd do it for $850, but it seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. $2300 was the best I found from a reputable mechanic, who specializes in Japanese auto repair. I got about 8 quotes.
