Default Sensitive Steering

I notice the steering is very sensitive and almost over responsive. Does anyone notice this?

Can you please clarify ... and if you could please state which vehicle you are comparing against.
Sensitive as in quick to respond ... slight turn of the steering makes a larger than expected directional change
under-damped ... correction in steering direction over-corrects [like a bouncing ball in horizontal plane]
The vehicle keeps changing direction based road condition.

Reason I am asking these questions is ..
Lexus as a brand is considered less responsive with a certain sloppiness in steering ... the standard being a go-cart. Enthusiasts in general think Lexus as less responsive.
You can have issues with tires, proper-inflation, alignment, shocks and suspension.
Finally bad roads.

Salim
PS: I keep a slight grip on the steering wheel with both hands [2 and 10 O clock] giving me a balance and let the wheels determine straight ahead direction of travel. This decouples my minor movements of hands.

How old is your RX and how many miles are on it? How long have you owned the vehicle? What did you drive before the RX?
Have you had the suspension inspected recently, if not that may be a good idea, especially for your safety.
What is your tire pressure? The correct tire pressure is on a label on the driver door frame near the seat.

Its a 2014 and I have had it a couple weeks now. It has about 143k on it. New tires balanced and aligned.

The installers often overinflate new tires. Check your tire pressure as over inflated tires could make the steering more sensitive as the sidewalls will be very stiff.
If it was just aligned they would have checked the suspension for worn components as they would affect the ability to do a proper alignment and then they could sell you a repair. So your suspension is probably fine.

You may just need to get used to your new to you vehicle.

I think you are right .... I do think I have to just get used to it. I will double check the tire pressure though.
Thanks much!

Do the simple checks, but also try to test couple of used/for-sale RX to see/evaluate how they compare.

Every brand model is going to feel different. If you switched from sedan to SUV, try to get the feel/response driving next to sixteen wheelers [so that you are not startled by push of the air].

The steering on the 3rd gen is heavy and direct (IMO) - takes a bit to get used to - my wife struggles with it coming over from her Rav4 which is light and loose compared to this SUV.

This is the reason why I ask "as compared to what". Thanks for sharing.
