Passenger side hi beam persist for a few seconds, then blinks out
My passenger side hi beam keeps going out after coming on initially.
Here are two photos. The first is my low beams:
2012 Lexus RX 350 low beam halogen headlights
The second photo is my hi beams, showing the passenger side light is not working.

This is a 2012 Lexus RX 350 with 72,000 miles.
I have checked:
Has anyone seen a similar issue?
I used Part number 9098113046 when replacing the hi beam bulb.
Thanks for any help on this problem!

I have checked:
- fuse box - all fuses are OK
- replaced hi beam bulb with a dealer supplied halogen bulb - a 9005 Sylvania bulb
- Connector harness was checked visually - no obvious problems
- Florida car, so no rust problem.
- ground connection seems fine.
- used vinyl gloves when replacing the headlamp bulb, so no contamination with finger contact
Has anyone seen a similar issue?

I think you are getting your beams confused. It looks like you have bi-xenon headlights.
Please reference my picture below
#1 is your low beam AND your high beam. The same bulb is used for both low beam and high beam.
#2 is only your Daytime Running Light and does not serve a purpose when driving at night (in the U.S.A).
I think you replaced your Daytime Running Light by mistake (#2). You need to instead replace #1 with an HID (High Intensity Discharge) bulb.
When an HID bulb is going bad it will come on for a while but then go out - that is typical. The HID bulb replacement is more difficult than the one you already replaced and it is in a different location than the bulb you already replaced, it is also significantly more expensive.

See these threads and also youtube has videos on replacing the D4S HID bulbs. Do not buy them from the dealer, they will charge 4 times the normal price. You should replace both HID bulbs because they get dimmer over time and the new bulbs will be brighter. Also your other HID bulb will likely fail soon. OEM bulbs are about 3500 kelvin. I would stay with under 5000 for a whiter light and still be able to see at night.

This video is for the RX450 but it has the same bulbs, just more stuff in the way to get at them on the driver side.

Thank you RadiantX45 for your answer! I must be mired in the 20th century...
Both lo and hi beam functionality reside in ONE xenon bulb.
I had been swapping out the halogen daytime running light bulb!
I see that an Osram/Sylvania D4S xenon HID bulb can be had on Amazon for around $50. (Dealer wants $171/bulb)
My plan is to order 2 of these bulbs on Amazon, replace both using a local mechanic, and thus fix this problem on my 11 year old RX 350.
Thanks also to Clutchless for the useful links...
