Hi.
My wife and I drive a 2013 RX450h, and the power lift gate does not open when pushing the door button on the outside next to the license plate. All the other buttons work like the dash button under the steering wheel, the fob button, and the close button on the bottom of the gate. I double checked the button in the glove box to make sure it is in the on position. I took the car to the dealership service to have it looked at, and I was told that it’s a manual button and works correctly. Now, we did have our car recently serviced, which included replacing the struts and motor to the lift gate. Before it was serviced the button on the back door always lifted automatically. Either the service center tech is correct, or has no idea how to fix this, and just ‘blowing smoke in my face.’ Personally, I think they can’t or won’t fix it.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You say your liftgate motor was recently replaced. My guess is that they neglected to plug the electrical connector for the liftgate exterior button into the new motor assembly.
