Rattling heat shield
The heat shield of my RX350 was rattling
Took it to a independent repair shop. They removed it saying car will run fine without it. When I poked him, he said there are no fuel lines there, the fuel tank and lines are shielded well and removing this will probably increase the temperature inside car a little bit ( in new England area where it is cold 8 months a year , it is not a concern)
What do you guys think ?

If the heat shield is beyond repair you can always buy another one but I think it'd be fine. Do you plan on keeping the car for over 10 years?

What they did is the usual way most shops deal with this issue on aging vehicles. You will not notice any difference inside the vehicle.
Often attempting to attach a new heat shield to rusted attachment points is very difficult if not almost impossible and more costly than it is worth.

If the shields was not required it would not be put in by the manufacturer. Something will be impacted long term.
