Default 3rd Gen rear coil springs replacement

My rear coil spring is showing signs of bad corrosion so I’m looking to replace this before it snaps.

if anyone has done this themselves would be great if they could share any tips on how to drop the carrier to remove the spring.

Is it just a matter of dropping the shock from the upper mount 3 screws and then manipulating the arm.

Any advice will be massively appreciated

Is it just the black paint on the outside of the spring?

Very good point. Typically the rust works itself from outside in. A good wire brush treatment followed by primer and paint can take care of the situation.

I agree, clean and paint the spring. Although It is unlikely to rust through enough to fail, even if you lived somewhere much colder where they use much more salt on the roads, such as Canada.

It helps if you tell us the model year and mileage on your RX, plus provide a photo of the spring so we can provide a more accurate opinion.
