HID headlight projection distorted after DIY replacement
I DIY replaced the 10 year old yellowing and, it seemed, dimming HID low beam headlight in my 2015 RX450h. I didn't expect the result pictured…some strange projection cutoff and distortion on the driver side. I'd never replaced HIDs before. The passenger side went smoothly but on the driver side I had a lot of trouble getting the wire clips set so that the bulb was secure in its socket. Spent an hour and countless retries. I don't know if this is a bulb problem or something with the housing. (Yes, I know that one way to troubleshoot is to swap sides…which I am skittish of doing given the trouble I had). I wonder if the part of the headlight assembly into which the HID inserts is a movable part that might've shifted? Has anyone else experienced this?

Best guess. The driver side bulb is not installed correctly in the light housing. You should not have to force the bulb(or clip) to fit the bulb into the socket. I would try reinstalling the bulb again; carefully.

Still same recommendation. Reinstall the bulb or swap it out. The fact that it was not a smooth install could mean that the bulb got damaged or is not properly installed in the socket.
