Yesterday while driving on the parkway I noticed that my RX felt like it was being “held back” in drive. Drove an hour round trip and noticed this, no smell. Last night while driving with the family and coming home it was noticeably colder out and there was a smell from the right rear of the car that smelled like burnt rubber. Today I still feel that resistance in the rear. Going to take it to a local shop but has this happened to anyone else? There are no lights illuminated on the dash indicating an issue with the breaks

It is a good idea to have it checked. Also the awareness in change of vehicle feel is a good reason to check. The onboard computer and other monitors do not check everything so the driver has to be vigilant.

Typically visual (sight), smell and feel all can zero into the problem area. For friction loss you will be able to feel hot wheel center [it can be so hot as to burn]. You can also raise and spin each wheel to notice a drag [you need to park at a flat spot and jack up each end and make sure the wheels on ground are chocked with vehicle in N].

For proper visual inspection you may have to get under the vehicle as times road debris can get caught up in the spinning axles. My friend went over inflatable children pool and that thing wound up on rubber boot causing extensive damage.
