Default AC troubleshooting.

My wife’s 2010 RX350 has been developing an AC issue. It’ll blow cold sometimes and then other times not. The compressor is kicking on and spinning so I don’t believe it is that. And it never blows hot just ever so slightly cooler than air temp when it’s not kicking in.

what I’ve done so far:
I bought the pressure gauge to test the system. The system is holding pressure so it’s not a leak. When it’s on and running the pressure is also correct when first started.

My thoughts.. Expansion Valve failure.

Rationale: When I turn the vehicle off the high and low pressure sides should equalize within a few minutes from what I understand. They do not. I waited 10 minutes and still not close. When I started it just to see what happened the low side was only slowly moving towards regular pressure again. Like super slow. I believe that’s another sign of an expansion valve failure. Please advise. It seems pretty straight forward I’m just checking my work because it’s a pain in the butt to get to the valve. Thanks in advance.

^^ This. I think the magnet trick is indeed worth trying in this case.
