I changed out all original OEM yellow halogen lights with white LEDs. But, the old license plate lights shine yellow, and are giving me trouble finding replacements.
The 2010 RX450h license plate lights are a solid plastic LED light assembly. It cannot simply have the bulb replaced with a new white LED, like most other light fixtures.
To make things more challenging, the solid OEM plastic license plate lights have a peculiar design to fit in place in the tailgate; specific to each Driver & Passenger side light assemblies. Aftermarket LED license plate light assemblies do exist in shapes like squares, rectangles, or even ovals- but I can't find one that covers the unique gap securely & has a compatible connector. Amazon "ConfirmedFit" is not accurate for this.

It seems like it'd be a common & simple task. But, I can't seem to find a solution.
The replacement parts used for RX 2nd Gen & 4th Gen are just not compatible.

Has anyone had success replacing the OEM yellow license plate lights with white LEDs?
Can someone suggest a manufacturer that makes a compatible LED replacement?
Did somebody develop a creative solution or workaround?


Helpful advice & suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This has been asked a few times over the years and it appears you are out of luck with finding something whiter as it is a more complicated than buying new bulbs. See the threads below. I would leave it alone.

^^ What he said. Who cares about whiter / brighter license plate lights except for law enforcement officers looking to pull you over for something.

If you want something white and LED, the 13-15 RX gets a white LED assembly, not sure if it would fit though. Check eBay pics for comparison
