Default Replacing Display Screen Due To Yellowing (OEM Part Number Question)

Hello!

I've been through several threads on this forum and have dug as best as I can to ensure that this has not already been asked.

I just picked up a 2011 RX350 for my 16 year old daughter. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that the display screen (Nav Display area) has yellowing on most of the screen...likely from sun exposure. I removed the assembly to ensure the issue is the screen itself, and not oxidation of the plastic covering that goes over it. Turns out it is internal to the screen.

All that to say that there are dozens of used displays for sale on eBay. I will buy a replacement. However, it appears that there are 2 different part numbers that show up under the same search.

86110-48510
86110-0E010

Lexus website says that apparently one supersedes the other. (https://parts.lexus.com/p/Lexus__/MU...61100E010.html)

My question is if I'm going to replace this screen, which part number supersedes which? Is 0E010 superseded by 48510, or is it the other way around? My part number is 0E010, but if 48510 is "newer" and still works, I will pick that up instead.

Also, anyone well versed in such things have an understanding of why the new part number came out?

Looking at the link it appears to me that 48510 is the newer one. However, both should fit and probably look exactly the same.
Are getting a new or used one? There sure are a lot of used ones on eBay but I bet many of those are also yellowing.

We had this issue on the HS250h site and someone figured out a new Toshiba part number to replace it for about the cost of a used OEM one. That screen is different from the RX. I will ask that member how he figured it out and if he can help find one for the RX.

This is helpful, thank you!

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing on the used displays. One listing states the exact car it came from (2010 RX450h), and that "The screen is clear and bright", which gives me some confidence. This one is the 48510 number, which is what made me start asking.

I would love to hear more info on the Toshiba replacement. Definitely intriguing.

Thank you again. If anyone has any additional insight before I make a move, it would be much appreciated. Maybe it will also help someone down the road.

The member responded quickly as pasted below:

"I disassembled it to find the screen model number. That's the only way to know, and you also get to know the the connectors are correct or not even you can't find the exactly number matched screen."
So you have to remove yours enough to find the manufacturer model number. I think some of the used ones have clear enough photos to see one, as I checked and one did have the Denso name on it. Denso is a HUGE OEM supplier to many Japanese car companies.
I could read the number on a listing: DW462200-2692, but there are none on eBay.

But then you have to figure out the connectors and many listings still have it mounted in the housing. The Lexus parts drawings are not that helpful.

I think you will just have to try and find a used one in great condition.

I will disassemble it tomorrow or this weekend. If I find anything conclusive, I will post it up.

Quick update:

Tried buying a used one through eBay. Seller ran it through a VIN checker and it says that 48510 is not compatible. It also says 48510 was replaces by 0E010.

Here's what they sent me for reference. Side note, I didn't know that site existed, and I will use it for future part fitment.

At least they are an honest seller.
I thought you already knew that many of the online OEM Lexus parts sellers have you enter the VIN to find the exact correct part.
You could also contact Rancho Lexus Recycling and ask what they have that fits. They have access to the Hollander database that cross references most parts to the various vehicles they fit. You could buy it from them if they had one. http://www.rancholexusrecycling.com/
