Shows how subjective "looks" are....I think both the dog and the RX look good.

$51,550 is exactly right even for the 2007 model year RX350 in Canada.

Thanks for putting this back in perspective. We weren't car shopping back then and it's interesting to see how the price has yo yo'd over the last couple of years.
I'd be interested to know how Lexus USA discounted their cars previously and how it compared to Lexus of Canada.

The Canadian LX470 was MSRP at $100,400 where as the LX470 in the USA was around $73,00

I saw the new RX here at a local dealer today, and as mentioned before went to the preview event here in Atlanta and have to conclude that overall I think the previous generation (RX330/RX350) was a better shaped and overall better looking vehicle. I think part of the general dislike that so many people have for the RX is because we see SO MANY of them on the road. Ignoring that and specifically looking looking at the profile, the details, the shapes, the flow of everything...I just think the old RX is a better looking vehicle- it is leaner, cleaner, and more svelte looking in my eyes. As stated several times before, the new one just looks swollen and mismatched in comparison, and the interior is really a no brainer for me in terms of design.
Yes, I would rather have the 6AT, Remote Touch, hybrid powertrain, and all of the other goodies but from strictly a design standpoint I think the old RX spanks the new one. Bare.

Mike, I actually think the 2RX is fabulous and aged like fine wine. It doesn't look old. Hell the 1RX now looks fine and blends in well with the new cute utes.
I could rock a 400h, seriously....
Edit. The 2RX interior does the wood/silver so well. The new RX does need a tad more wood, it seems so plain on the center console.

In all honesty I really do still think that the 2RX is a pretty good looking ute inside and out, even at 7 years down the road from it's introduction. It's easy to disregard them or think of it as bland simply because there are so many on the road and it gets OLD when you're surrounded by three of them at any given traffic light.
Like I said above though, disregard the familiarity and "Oh...an RX...whoop dee doo" mentality and look at it for what it is and I think it's a design that has aged very, very well. It still looks athletic, clean, sleek and simple but also unique and attractive. It's no longer the sharpest, fastest, best handling, biggest, or most desireable but all in all, I think it's the sum of all things combined that makes the RX such a compelling package. The new one has obviously improved upon those strengths, I just think the old one is a significantly better looking ute.

i dont like the venza grill, even more so than the 3RX grill. it just doesnt work.
as for the 2RX, i love mine even after 6 years of ownership. i just went in for a 90K mile oil change, cost me $600 some odd dollars so i think i have to get rid of it soon. haha
as for the car, outside it does look very nice, but the interior is getting really dated. i think i might trade up to the 3gen RX just cause i think overall the package is better.

Yes, the RX's have aged well, partly because they were ahead of the curve when they debuted. But, like RXSF says, there are dated aspects of the 2RX, and the new one looks to be much more advanced looking inside and to a degree outside. Having sat inside the Venza, it's nice but much lower and station-wagon like. The 2RX center stack is very modern looking, even Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson praised it, but it is pretty complex IMO for a Lexus...the 3RX center stack brings back the simplicity hallmark for Lexus.

However, when I was at the dealership last week, I sat in a 2009 and was stunned by the interior...and not in a good way. I couldn't believe how our '05 was essentially identical to the '09.
The updated interior is certainly a huge draw. Besides, ride on the inside anyways right.
