I just dont see how people can justify paying almost $15,000 more for a 2010.

The RX was a afforatble luxury until now. When a affortable luxury SUV becomes no longer affortable, it has lost it only selling point.

I would go for the 2010. I think it will be a big hit. Worth the premium? Yes.

it doesnt make sense to buy an 09. i mean there's a chinese saying, roughly translated into the moral lesson of "you're already shelling out a majority of it, you might has well pay for the better one/more of it"

for 1) it wont be a 15K premium
and 2) the 09 lacks so much you might as well buy a highlander

and affordable SUV? last time i checked, the X5 and the ML start at a much higher price (6K more) than the RX base, and those are doing fine

I gotta agree. Especially with the hybrid model- buying a 2008 vs 2010 model a few years down the road when considering resale value it is obvious to see that if the 2008 was purchased in Feb and the 2010 in March that the person with the 2010 will have the better resale. The same concept can be applied to the RX350 to a lesser degree.

the more i look at the redesign the less i like it.
the old exterior looks much better IMHO, maybe the front looks slightly improved.
the interior however, I still think is a gem, the new curving front panel design etc. but the remote touch feature is great but i prefer a touchscreen maybe i am too in love with my iTouch. the dashboard looks much better with its blue LED lights. wow!

At 1st it will be close to $15,000 more considering the $5K more in MSRP and the fact that their is no factory incentives for the 2010 and the 2010 will be selling very close to MSRP. My guess is that if you waiting till next winter, the 2010 will be selling close to invoice, which will bring the diff down to $10K.

They don't have the option packages priced yet, but in Canada they are advertising the base 2010 RX350 at $46 900. The 2009's are based at $42 950 for a difference of $3950.

It will be interesting to see where the gap is with the loaded versions. But as mentioned there will not be the dealing on the '10's like currently on the '09's.

I think the 2010 is butt ugly!!! Why in the world would anyone pay that much for a camary based anything, car, suv etc. Rule of thumb on any lexus is a minium of 10% off the sticker. In these economic times, and the market that lexus sells to (middle to upper middle income) being the hardest hit, i would say thousands below invoice!! The 2010 rx will have to be lower priced in this market. If the price is high like others believe just buy a benz. Or bmw. Or save a ton of money and purchase a buick enclave (nice ride). You have to drive one before you make negative comments. Remember lexus is just toyota's buick brand (rx,es,is). Cadillac level (gs,ls).

Junkxus, for the 1st time, I agree with you This is a very bad time to for Lexus to raise their price on their entry level SUV. This market will the support a 10% increase on any product right now, especially a luxury upgrade that people can do without. Marketing wise, its a bad decision for Lexus as well, they have price the new RX into the middle level luxury SUV segment. They are now competing with the big boys, the RX need to perform better and design better to order to compete.

Of course there are no incentives now for the 2010 models. The models aren't even out yet...

There will have to be incentives otherwise Lexus will find itself exactly where its been (and every car maker for that) in a hole. New models will just sit there, unsold, especially given the controversial redesign. Lexus had its "December to remember" sales event during which it sold new 2009 models and guess what? They still were down in sales for the month and year. Fast forward 2 months (or 4 for the 450h) and I doubt very much sales are going to be doing well enough that they can afford to jack the prices to MSRP and above. Not having incentives will not make anything better...

The prices haven't even been released yet, and I don't think that it will be that much more than the current RX (minus the current incentives of course). The 2010 RX still gets better fuel economy than the BMW, Acura, and Mercedes, and has better performance than before.

Canadian pricing actually has been released already. I picked up the pricing sheet today. They expect to have a 2010 on site by the end of the month.

I'm not going to list every option but the packages go like this:

Models
A - Luxury SUV $49 830
L - Premium Package 1 $52 830
B - Premium Package 2 $54 430
C - Touring Package $57 830
S - Sport Package $59 830
D - Ultra Premium Package $65 130

These prices are inclusive of everything except GST. They also include a block heater and all weather floor mats.

The 2009's for comparison base at $43 266 and with the Ultra Premium Package at $56 816. (These prices do not include freight, pdi, tax, etc.)

Hopefully you can extrapolate what this may mean to US pricing.
