RX has what is called a leather trim interior, which means only the seating surface is leather.

Sorry, again a bit off topic. I would agree with you that the RX and the X5 are not really in the same category. But I don't think the RX is in the X5 price category either. Up here the 3.0 X5 bases $9K more than the RX and depending on options it can end up $30K more for the fully loaded 4.8i. I would think that the RX is more of a comptetitor to the X3, but like you said that is another discussion.

i own an o4 camry as well as on o6 gx and o7 es. the lexus interior is superior but wile shopping for my es350 i drove the 07 camry and compared to the o4 camry it was very cheap feeling inside - the switches felt flimsy and the leather was quite stiff. the avalon was similar and my entire family(none of which are car people) thought the toyota models were substantially lower quality the lexus and older model camry
