If you buy a 2010 RX350...

My essay on dealer contracts was sarcastic, prompted by what could well be the dumbest question posted here in several years (maybe ever) ("can I talk to a different salesman if I don't like the first guy?")
My response to the above post is "Dear god! I don't think he got it."

Actually, wanting to talk to a different salesperson is not a crazy idea nor a dumb question.
There's a dealer in northern Miami (not Lexus or even Toyota, but I'll just say it sells American vehicles) and I have heard more than enough times from friends that have gone there that the sales people there are out of their minds and that people want to talk to the person in charge or alternatively to another sales person because the person they have tries to tell them that are only certain options available despite the fact they called the company (or have a printout from the company's website) that shows differently.

I just bought 2010 RX250 AWD w/ Comfort Package, Navigation w/ 12 speaker audio, premium package, wood wheel & wood shift ****, tow prep, etc...
MSRP = $46,775 - Paid $44,000
Starfire Pearl w/ Gray Perforated Leather ... not too rare in NJ ... ordered on 2/14 ... took delivery 2/19! Japan-Built
MSRP $50,588, my price $46,000
If leased it would be 0 down, 36 months, 12,000 miles/year, $744/month.
The more I have read lately on the LS460 forum about the problems with that model I strongly suspect I'm going crawling back to the Germans after being away for 5 years and having owned 3 Lexus. At least with the German cars they don't have so much body flex your doors squeak while driving down the road. Lexus had better get it's act together. They aren't what they used to be.

Is this deal for a straight purchase or does it include a trade in?

New RX bought
I just picked up my new RX list of 48,887. Paid 44,767 BUT also had to pay a dealer junk fee of 599. They also put a nice hand painted double pinstripe on for free. So far a great car. The Luxury pax really makes the leather much nicer.
Smokey Granite with gray interior. When I checked around I found most of the Rx are not coming with the luxury package on them. How are others doing with their purchases?

yes it is a 2010 and has luxury, nav and comfort pax plus a few other toys like glass break, cross bars etc.. The insides are much nicer than the older ones. I traded a 2003 lx 470 with 79,000 (pretty much mint) and got $22K for it so with the sales tax break it was not too bad. I really loved the lx but it was going to need tires and brakes and I got caught in the sickness of new car fever. This is not even close to the lx but either are the prices. I had a loaded lx offered to me at 77400 (list of 88+).

Stevemcb:
Is that a front drive or all wheel drive? My understanding is that most of the FL cars are shipped to the dealers with front drive, while we get mostly all wheel drive up here, north of Mason and Dixon's line. If so, the price difference is about $1,500.00, as I recall.
If you have all wheel drive, then that is quite a good price indeed, and I may go talk to my own dealer.

front wheel drive in Florida. No need for AWD here and a little better mileage. You are right about the extra cost for AWD. I just wanted buyers to know they can get the right price even on a new model year. Each area of the country is probably a little different on pricing but they are coming off the trucks pretty fast and there are more out there now than they like to let you know. We all know how the new car hype is. Actually this is the most over invoice I have ever paid for a Lexus and probably in a couple of more months they will even be less but it was a good time for me to trade as the mileage was still below 80 K on my trade. You can link your Iphone though the blutooth and the ipod section for music thought the USB port which was a great hookup and it all displays on the screen.
