2010 "natural speech" video + top-level commands
This was posted in my ownership log, but it seems like it needs it's own post. I'd like to start collecting top-level speech commands here. For example, "dial <name>" -- this works at the top level.
Here's a short video:

If you have more top-level commands, please post them

Commands
When I was in the dealership. And playing with the Voice Box. It showed on the display the commands that were available. And it would tell you the commands that are avialable.
I understand if you hit the voice button twice. It goes right to the beep. But if you just hit it once. Shouldnt it display the commands?

Just want to say thanks for posting the videos!!! They are great for those of us who have not seen the 2010 yet and it is much appreciated!
I'd love to see how the nav system works with the controller if you could hook a few iPods up on a few tripods and do a split screen when you get a few minutes
But seriously - great job!!

next time you are near a dealer, stop in and sit in a 2010. The joy stick is very easy to get the feel of, there is a definite sensation/click to it when it toggles the selector on the touch screen from one choice to another. pretty slick I thought. I didn't drive it or put it through the paces but it was easy to get the movements down.

More Speech Options
I've been playing a lot with the speech system and have found that the recognition is very good. No training required and you don't have to follow the "scripts". The Quick Guide has a list of some of the commands.
First a couple of general notes: As mentioned before, you can stop the prompt messages by pressing the voice button again. You can also disable the prompt messages through the setup voice options.
You can call "Jane" by steping through four or five prompts, or you can simply say "Call Jane Mobile". If you want to be polite, include a "please". If you say "It is ******* hot in here" the system will catch the word "hot" and raise the temperature even more. But that's the fun of it.
Also the instructions state a limit of like 20 voice tags for your contacts. I loaded my contacts from my cell phone, hundreds of them. The voice system calls them all by name.

** iPod
** XM [1 or 2 optional]
-- these just switch to that mode in the radio. To get to an XM channel you have to be in XM mode than then:
** Audio
* channel one-thirty (etc)
It doesn't much like the way I say audio though -- I often get "pardon?", or something weird activated. I think I need to say it more like "aud-ee-oh"... darn ex-texas drawl.

perhaps any of the root keywords can be used in a direct statement?

it does not work well with the iphone as of yet because if you are not moving your contacts will display but if you start to drive the contacts lock out so you cannot call any of the contacts. Anyone else able to get the iphone to work correctly?

> explain how you tripped over a new feature
thanks Lil4X, yea, my messages have been called spam before :-)
One could debate that a shallow menued touch screen is faster than a sea
of dedicated buttons. I think we can all agree either are worlds faster
than a mouse like 'Remote Touch' or Idrive. Remote Touch is extremely
cool and easy, but it will never be as fast as a touch screen.
One could also debate if the greater contrast and easer viewing angle
are worth the loss of a touch screen. But I think we all would agree we
view the screen more than we "interact" with it.
This leads us to natural speech. Is it faster? Only if one can
complete the task from the root menu. So what complete commands can be
done from the root menu? Here are a few listed in the manual:
Go home.
What gas stations are near?
Where's the nearest Mexican restaurant
Where is the closest ATM?
Call to Bob on his mobile.
Get me Rob Brown on the phone.
Please place a call to John on his mobile.
Call to 123-456-1234.
I'd like to place a call to 123-456-1234.
I want to buzz 123-456-1234, please.
Give me a weather report for Los Angeles, California
How about Detroit, Michigan?
Switch the channel to XM 175.
Some look like they need to be in one of submenus that are
Destination, Phone, Audio, Information
To narrow ciparis request for top-level commands, what
interesting complete commands have you been able to do from
the root?
