My salesman who sold me the '08 RX350AWD last April said he would take my RX back plus if I give him $2k, he'll give me the new 2010 with identical options. My RX only has 5k miles. I was not in the market but wanted to check out the new RX at the dealer but that offer sure sounds decent and reasonable. What do you all think?

Are you sure it is ONLY 2K? Sounds more like 20K! Definitely go for it. As the '09 (newer than your model) completely new with 0 miles is about 6K cheaper than a comparable '10 model. So that is why I am doubting your dealer.
This does not sound right. I bought my 2009 PBE last April and I have 5,000 miles on it. I asked my salesman what he would give me for it if I traded it for a 2010. He said he would give me $27,000. And I would still have to buy the 2010 at whatever the current price is. Of course I said no way. So how someone could sell you a 2010 plus your 08 and $2,000 is utterly unbelievable. If your salesman said this, you need to check his car out to see if there is a bong in it.
I cant beleive you decided to come home and post this for our opinion....I would doubt them doing this , even if you had a 2010 model you drove for 5k miles.......think about it....the car depriciates that much just driving off a lot...
there must have been a miscommunication somewhere...let us know what the real deal turns out to be. if you are in fact correct, i would have run down to the ATM and paid cash on the spot.
