The color is astounding. Does it show blue tint sometimes?

^^^ not at all. That color is hard to capture in a photo. You gotta be in person to really see it's true color. I love that color one of my favorites. It's similar to Graphite Gray Metallic on previous Lexus models.

I really like the smoky granite mica. We have the same taste in colors. This is the color of my LS460L, but my interior is black. My wife's RX400h is also the same color. However, we decided to try something different now. The new RX450h we (it will be hers) ordered is tungsten pearl with black interior.

Congratulations on a great purchase!

TripelL:
I have a question about your Matador Red IS, because I am seriously considering the '10 RX in that color.
It seems to be a nice but somewhat unusual shade of red: not fire engine red, like they put on the SC for a few years ("Absolutely Red"), but not as dark as a maroon or burgundy red.
How do you like it? Is it hard to keep clean?
Thanks.

Thanks all for the kinds words.

tfischer: When we were shopping for the RX I was checking out the Matador Red RX350. On the brochure I wasn't really diggin` it but when I saw it in person I kinda liked it.

tfischer,

Thanks for asking, I really like my Matador Red. Its 3.5 years old and looks as good now as it did new, I find it pretty easy to keep clean (although I just came out of having a black car for 8 years ). I wax it every three months and wash it weekly and am very happy.

I actually went to buy the white (Crystal white at the time) and I saw a Matador Red 3GS on the showroom floor and really liked it. I figured I was buying a classy but sporty car so I went for it and got the Matador with no regrets.

BTW I saw a 2010 RX in Matador Red a couple of weeks ago at the dealership.. looked sweet! But so did the Black one and the Starfire Pearl one too! Good Luck in your search.

Larry

PS the OP makes a great point about pics of this color, its a bugger to photograph even for the pro's LOL

I have the 2010 RX in Matador Red. Every time I open the garage or see it sitting all by itself on the outskirts of a parking lot (because I won't park it near anyone) I have to smile. It is just beautiful! Apparently, when it came off the truck at the dealer, a number of people who were looking at the 2010 wanted to buy it. Luckily, we had already ordered it! They are hard to find, and if we hadn't gotten this one, we may have had to wait a couple more months.

Good luck making a choice.

Thanks for those comments. I saw and even drove the Red '10 RX at the dealership, and the red looked very deep and rich, much more so than in photos for obvious reasons. It had quite a lot of metallic flakes in it, and I think a few coats of Zaino would really make it look great.
My current RX is "savannah" which is the same color as road dust, so cleaning it is not so much the problem as it is with my black SC.
Of the colors available, I think I like the red the most. It's the price that I don't like so much, since there is nothing really wrong with my '04 RX.
We shall see.

those who complain about bumpy ride should check their tire pressure to make sure they arent over inflated. although i too feel the RXs usually have a bumpy ride in the back.

^^^ Good point. IMHO any high elevated vehicle will be a tad bumpy compared to a sedan. My wife drove the RX while I was in the back seat with my baby girl and I'm fine with the ride.
